Busy summer

Although Houston still is hot and humid, summer is gone and things are getting rolling again with fall performances and recordings.  Summer never really slowed down.  I was happy to see several projects wrapped up, and several discs released as a result.  Some of those include the Suites and Sweets (seen above) a solo violin disc, Jessica Mathaes’ new disc.  She is the Concert Master of the Austin Symphony, and she was accompanied by the amazing Rod Waters on piano.

Karim Al-Zand, faculty composer from Shepherd School of Music over at Rice U, also had a disc released with Albany, full of music I have recorded for him over the last few years. it is called simply Chamber Music.  He has such wonderful compositions, with a wide variety of ensembles performing. He is so creative in weaving exotic musical flavors into pleasing classical music that is contemporary but so fun and enjoyable to listen to.

Also an all organ music disc was released by George Mims, the Musical Minister for St. Martin’s Episcopal.  We worked very hard on this collection and it is now available at the St. Martin’s book store.  It should be featured soon on Michael Barone’s Pipedreams.  It is called  Gloria Dei Organ Colours.  If you enjoy organ music it is a must have.  You will need to call the bookstore and ask about it, as it does not seem to show up on their website.

I also wrapped up a kid’s music CD by Holly Jean.  She is a music educator from the Atlanta, GA area, and it is a fun collection of very catchy tunes and should be released soon.  I will let you know.
